Katherine & Ron: A Southern California Engagement. Part One.

A few weeks ago I received a phone call from Ron asking if I would be available to do a beach style engagement session somewhere in Southern California followed up by a two-part engagement session in Colorado. I can honestly say that I was caught off guard by the request for a three part engagement session but I am sure glad that Ron did call as Julie and I had a blast with Ron and his lovely fiance Katherine this week!

Only two words are needed to describe Katherine and Ron’s engagement session: fun and daring. Not only did Katherine and Ron kill the camera with smiles, they did so with some bravery when a rogue wave gave us all a good scare. But Ron and Katherine both hung tough and in the end we came out with some great shots because of it. Thank you Katherine and Ron for the great time! You guys rock and I can’t wait till June for parts two and three!

Nelsy + Jeff: An OC Engagement

One of my favorite things about being a photographer is meeting others who love photography as much, if not more than I do. One of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer is working with couples who love and value photography as much as I do since that makes me even more excited about shooting their engagement and covering their wedding. I personally believe that your most treasured photos will last beyond your lifetime and the stories from your photos will read like a book to our future generations. So when I met Nelsy and Jeff and was told that photography was one of the most important aspects of their wedding day, I had a feeling that we would get along great. Though I can’t say the same about the bee that I had the unfortunate pleasure of running into during their engagement session. All I can say is that I’m lucky I’m not allergic and I’m thankful I was the one who was stung instead of Nelsy, Jeff or my lovely assistant Julie. With that being said, enjoy the photos and I can’t wait for 1.14.11!

Dina + John: A Denver Engagement

I met Dina sometime during my third year in college through my good friend Tean (who’s wedding I was also in and partly shot). Since then we’ve come a long ways as we’ve both served as Co-Captains for the Spirit of Cambodia Dragon Boat Race Team with whom we’ve won both Gold and Bronze medals with, served as Counselor Coordinators for the Cambodian Heritage Camp and volunteered to help with countless of Cambodian New Year celebrations in the Denver community. So needless to say, we’ve both become pretty good friends since we first met way back when in college and when I found out that she was engaged I couldn’t have been happier for her. I should also add that because of our long running friendship, I was proud to have been asked by Dina and John to cover their wedding and shoot their engagement portraits.

So as anyone in Denver knows, the weather in Denver can turn real funny in a hurry. The day of Dina and John’s engagement session was no exception as the weather really did a funky number on us as far as the temperature goes. The day started off pretty warm which led us all to believe that we were probably going to roast for the rest of the day only to be surprised when the temperatures turned mild as a nice high overcast cloud layer rolled in. That didn’t last long though as the winds picked up and the temperatures dropped from a warm 75 to a chilly 50 degrees when we arrived at our next location in the foothills of the Rockies. Fortunately for me though, the weather couldn’t stop Dina and John from toughing it out and finishing the last few shots we were trying to create.

But that’s enough from me, I’ll stop talking so that everyone else can enjoy the photos. Congratulations guys and I can’t wait to cover your wedding next year. Enjoy!

A Pre-Valentines Day Engagement with Monique and Leo

Ever had one of those days that you had been looking forward to for quite awhile and as that day came closer it actually became further and further away? Well I’m not sure if Monique and Leo felt that way about yesterday but I sure did! After a little bit of bad luck with the normally sunny Southern California weather, a change in location due to some unforeseen problems and a little bit of conflict in our schedules we were finally able to sneak in Monique and Leo’s engagement session yesterday. I had also thought that we had struck gold with the weather since the day started out great with some beautiful 80 degree temps and cloud free skies! That, however, quickly took a turn in the opposite once the sun started setting and the chilled air started to rear it’s head. Fortunately though, Monique and Leo (and my lovely assistant Julie of course) were troopers about it and stuck it out till the end even though it was becoming bitterly cold. Okay, maybe not quite bitterly cold but it was cold enough since there wasn’t a jacket or sweater to be seen on any of us. But anyways, that’s enough from me. On to the photos, Enjoy!
