So for those of you who don’t know, I have a pug named Sojo. Actually he’s more Julie’s dog than mine these days since I’m always on the road but you get the point. Anyways he’s a very special dog and while we were at the beach earlier today he gave me a nice smile with this pose and out came this shot. And since the shot of Sojo (and Julie just in case you thought I forgot) was so lovely, I figured I would post it to give him some love too since he has yet to receive any on my blog. So here you go Sojo, enjoy your 15 minutes of internet fame!

A New Year and a New Fifty 1.4

Happy New Year all! I hope your New Year’s eve was a heck of a lot better than mine since I was laying in bed with my eyes closed due to the fact that I had to wake up at 4:00 AM Central for work! Anyways, I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted any new photos so here’s a few from today when I was out and about with Julie enjoying the beautiful Southern California weather. I should also mentioned that the photos were taken with a new lens (A Sigma 50 1.4 prime for all you gear heads out there) that I recently received so naturally I had to find a way to get out and play with it for a little bit. But that’s enough from me, on to the photos! Enjoy!

PS, if you’re wondering what Julie’s doing, she’s pretending to snap a photo of me as I take a photo of her.

Julie + Fina: Two Sisters

So for the last couple of weeks I’ve had the itch to go out and try a couple of new idea’s that have been running around in my head for awhile. I finally decided that today was the day and asked Julie and her sister Fina to come with me to see if I could finally get those ideas out of my head and into my memory card. Now before I go any further I should add that a very important part of my idea was the location. I had a specific location in mind and was dead set on going there because the atmosphere was perfect for the type of shot that I had wanted. Unfortunately for us; however, while we were waiting for the perfect light we ended up arriving after the location had already closed for the day! Though I was extremely disappointed about that, we were still able to drive around for a bit and found this great spot in Newport Beach with just enough light left in the day to get a few shots in.

Though if you’re wondering, these shots aren’t the shots that have been running around in my head for the last few weeks. Since the location didn’t fit the theme, I wanted to try and get some shots that I could cross process for fun and came up with the photos below. Though I should add that once the clouds rolled in and killed the light that I had wanted for my cross processing, I pulled out the flash and got that last shot that you see below.

In the end I still had a good time shooting today so I hope you enjoy these shots as much as I enjoyed shooting them.
